PSP Training Log – Review

Parkinson Strength Products is a British based strength equipment manufacturer that makes equipment upon order. At Fitness Affinity there is 55kg training log that is used for practising the larger log presses. The base weight might be 55kg but you can add more weight to meet your required training needs.

Completing a log press is different to completing a clean and press. I won’t go into the mechanics of it here but I have created a link for you to watch how it is done by the great Brian Shaw.

When the training log was delivered it was obviously all shiny and new and it took not just myself but other members a bit of time to adjust as it was a larger cylinder than the previous training log. The handles were a little slippy with the whole log being metal but you could feel the quality of which this was constructed. The first time I used it took me a few attempts to get each step of the press right without any weight on it.

After a few weeks of solid use and familiarising ourselves with the log we, and I, were able to really increase the load and there’s regular lifts of well into the 100kg plus using this fine bit of kit.

The log is well balanced throughout. I have used other equipment from unnamed brands were the weight balance was not even and this made lifting obviously difficult and downright dangerous.

As the log garners more and more use the better it becomes. It feels far more natural and how, if you have experienced using this form of equipment, should feel. The larger frame replicates lifting a competition log far greater than other smaller sized training logs. This was definitely a wise investment and an integral part of strongman training.
